Developing the New Jersey market for LHP Hospital Group.Responsible for the opening of a new acute care hospital in Westwood, NJ. Also will be managing Mountainside Hospital in Montclair.

Responsible for the ongoing operations of this two campus 1,200 bed major academic community hospital. The enterprise produces over $1B in revenue and has a 500 person faculty practice plan. The cancer center is the second largest center in New York City, behind only Memorial Sloan- Kettering in patient treatments. In 2005 the hospital lost $27M on ongoing operations. The hospital broke even in 2007 and had a $20M surplus in 2008. Currently completing a $40M expansion/renovation of the emergency department that encounters 90,000 visits/year. Introduced major quality and safety programs which have improved both core measure results and HCAHPS scores. Received a 5 star rating from Health Grades in 2008 for Orthopedics and Woman Services.

Rebuilt the reputation and profitability of this 150-year-old medical school hospital. Established a neurosurgical service resulting in the growth of 90 surgical cases per month. Successfully negotiated a major teaching affiliation agreement with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and integrated the teaching program into a traditional allopathic hospital. As a result inpatient volume grew 15% and outpatient volume grew 28%, increasing EBITA from ($2M) to $12M in FY00. Awarded Tenet's Circle of Excellence in 2000.

Successfully created and operated the dominant healthcare delivery system in New Orleans, increasing EBITA from $25M to $100M in FY97. Acquired two acute care hospitals, 125 physician practices, an outpatient diagnosis center, and an ambulatory surgery center. Chosen from over 400 applicants nationwide to participate in a Medicare+Choices Demonstration project. Developed a joint ventured managed care strategy with approximately 700 physicians. Successfully consolidated two acute care hospitals into one tertiary facility increasing EBITA by $1.5M. Negotiated a 10-year major teaching affiliation between Tenet and LSU Medical School.

Strategically implemented a turn-around plan, which successfully enabled this 200-bed facility to flourish. This facility lost $2M pretax per year in FY86 and made approximately $2M pretax in FY91. Recruited an entire primary based medical staff, reduced and/or kept expenses flat for three consecutive years, and implemented the first in-house skilled nursing facility in the Louisiana region for NME. Received Circle of Excellence Award in 1990.

Responsible for the ongoing operations and strategic planning of this 185-bed acute care hospital. Increased pretax profits by 20% each fiscal year, which positioned the facility to be sold to Community Health Systems in 1986.

Responsible for the operations and day-to-day management of an active 310 bed acute care hospital.

Assisted the Regional Vice President with various projects involving four acute care hospitals throughout California's San Joaquin Valley.
