I have worked for over 20 years as a police officer, within the UK and Hong Kong. Diagnosed with PTSD, subsequent to an incident on duty, I was forced to take medical retirement and reappraise my life. After receiving significant support from the UK military PTSD diagnosed community I now effectively manage my symptomology. I attended university and gained a Mathematics degree and Psychology Masters. I have a debt of honour to repay the UK veteran PTSD community, and have built an Independent research foundation, The Daparian Foundation, which has the ethos of improving the lived experience of the UK veteran and bluelight, PTSD diagnosed, communities. I have recruited a significant number of diagnosed veterans volunteers, and have already conducted research into veteran PTSD symptomology and its correlation with self-disgust, loneliness, anxiety and depression. This research has been submitted to a prestigious anxiety disorder journal for publication, with myself as co-author. Further research is planned continuing this theme. I am now building bridges within the veteran and bluelight communities and world of business, forging links which will facilitate the effective function of the Daparian Foundation.The structure, ethos and available diagnosed veteran volunteers that the Daparian Foundation is able to mobilise for research makes our organisation an extremely efficacious and powerful mechanism to improve the lived experience of the UK veteran and bluelight, PTSD diagnosed, communities.
