We are a commercial property management company managing retail locations, in Harvard Square with national and regional tenants as Urban Outfitters, Origins, Felipes Taqueria, Concepts. Tannery, Crema, Cardullo's , Curious George, and others. Our firm manages 1010 Memorial Drive which is 20 story residential co-operative overlooking the Charles River, in addition to offices, condos, apartments, mixed use and single-family homes throughout greater Boston.

I wore at least three hats while I was at Sheraton. What started out as heading up a 50 man engineering department, quickly turned into heading up all the construction at the hotel. This involved complete modernization of the property, adding convention/conference rooms as well as building two restaurants. A total of $20MM was spent on various projects making this property the largest and most profitable hotel in Boston. One of the more interesting projects was developing the space for Boston's Apple World Conference in the mid-eighties (it may have been Apple's first). The Hynes Auditorium, which Apple booked, was next door and undergoing a complete rebuild, turning it into a larger convention center - answering the demand for bigger convention space which was desperately needed to keep Boston in the forefront as a major convention destination. Apple World had scheduled its convention, so now Sheraton took on the task of hosting the event. My job then turned into reinventing the parking garage beneath the Prudential Center and the Sheraton Hotel to accommodate the tens of thousands of attendees. Air Conditioning (HVAC - 100 ton) equipment was purchased and installed along with the electrical power needed to support the lighting and equipment. Hotel conference rooms were wired to handle the teleconferencing between the Sheraton, Weston and Marriott Hotels. Fiber-optic lines, which were fairly new at that time, were run in the underground power and telephone conduits between the buildings. Sheraton's conference rooms were wired to handle the expected need for an unlimited amount of computer/data feeds. The third hat was to create a sales contract for the vendors and establish pricing for hotel services. What I didn't expect was that it would turn an engineering department into a profit center for the hotel. With an annual operating budget of $6MM for my department it was a nice piece of business offsetting the expense of engineering/maintenance.
