The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is part of the MOD and its creation in April 2011 brought the management of defence infrastructure together in one organisation for the first time.Since 2014, our senior management team includes leaders from the Civil Service, military, and our strategic business partners.In 2015, the government’s Strategic Defence and Security Review set out an ambitious plan to improve the UK’s military capability and the need to make efficiencies. DIO is at the heart of meeting both these challenges, from providing better infrastructure to making savings from a smaller and moreefficient estate. The Ministry Of Defence (MOD) owns a diverse estate measuring 220,000 hectares (about 0.9% of the total UK land mass) and holds rights over a further204,000 hectares. This makes the MOD one of the largest landowners in the country.Over 80% of the estate is rural and provides facilities for military training. Much of it is designated as environmentally sensitive and requires specialistexpertise to manage it. The built estate includes naval bases, barracks, airfields and other defence facilities.We also manage 25 training estates worldwide.

Originally created in 2003 to provide facilities management and support services to the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Landmarc has grown to deliver insightful, innovative consultancy and practical services that support critical infrastructure as well as helping to deliver military and civil protection training across the world.

2007-2009 Operational Advisor/Supervisor Exchange Instructor Royal Marines (Colour Sergeant) – British Army-Infantry Battle School (IBS) Wales, UK• Career training instructor of junior management (JNCO’s) to become middle management (SNCO’s) in a range of advanced Infantry tactics and command skills required by the British Army for career promotion, whilst employing in-service instructional techniques and the Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT) methodology.Training for high-intensity, light-role war fighting is the way soldiers and officers are prepared for any operational situation they may face – conventional war, counter insurgency, security sector reform, peacekeeping or supporting civil authorities.Training at IBS is delivered by high-quality instructors with a wealth of operational experience, and rated in the top third of the Infantry and Royal Marines exchange instructors (DS) alike.This ensures that the training is as close to current operations and pre-deployment training as possible, while maintaining the ability to train for high-intensity war fighting.IBS delivers competent and confident commanders for the Field Army by running command and leadership training, infantry tactics training, weapons training, and live firing range qualifications.It also provides specialist training teams to assist foreign forces in their development, and allocates some places on courses (PSBC) to overseas students.Infantrymen on operations do extraordinary things in difficult and dangerous circumstances.The commanders that lead them are all trained at IBS Wales, and the training they undertake is linked to current operations and best practice.
