Richard is a Managing Partner of the North Carolina Venture Capital Fund where he helps technology startups in NC achieve their first early stage investments and a Vice President with Corum Group where he helps successful technology companies reach their maximum exit value by managing a competitive bidding process. He is a serial entrepreneur and investor in the RTP area of North Carolina who founded his first company in 1986 and has since co-founded, invested, advised or been on the board of over 25 public and private companies. Richard brings a wealth of startup experience from early stage idea and product formation through exit by acquisition or IPO including expertise in fund raising, corporate development, sales, marketing, operations, international sales strategies and strategic relationships leading to exit. Richard has served on several public advisory boards and has won several awards including the 1993 Ernst and Young Technology Entrepreneur of the Year for North Carolina and the 1996 Business Leader Top Gun Entrepreneur of the Year. Richard is also a farmer and environmentalist and co-owns Coon Rock Farm, in Hillsborough, NC.
