I am an evolutionary ecologist with over three years of experience working with data. As a scientist, I have the opportunity to develop a data plan from the ground up. I use python to design data entry programs and build workable data sets from unstructured data, such as the output of UV spectroscopy of plant tissue, where data has to be integrated from many different files. I have also used python with OpenCV and PlantCV to train a machine learning algorithm to obtain biological data from >5000 photos of the invasive plant Garlic Mustard. Following data sampling and organization, I conduct statistical analyses using R software. I have a strong knowledge of linear models, generalized linear models, mixed-effects models, principal component analysis and path analysis. I also use R to perform simulations such as bootstrapping and permutation tests when necessary. Following data analysis, I use R to create figures for publication in scientific journals and books. I managed a team of >5 individuals to conduct a 2-year research project that required a high level of organization and the management of a greenhouse and scientific field site. I use GitHub to collaborate with team members with regard to data collection, organization, analysis and visualization.
