Senior Research Associate Leading the planning, development and publication of the 'Advanced data clustering for climate science applications' project, a feasibility study supported by the EPSRC ReCoVER network. The key goal of understanding the potential for the application of advanced clustering to atmospheric data, in order to develop new insight into the patterns and drivers of atmospheric composition.Generated monthly bias reduction of ~18% in predicted chemistry. Developed a software framework for future cluster-based ensemble means for climate predictions.The success of the project resulted in a further funding application with the support of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), The Environment Agency and National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).

Research Assistant on the SEASian Haze project. Developing hardware and software for an autonomous UAV system for atmospheric science research.I integrated chemistry sensing instruments into autonomous UAV flight control system to pilot the UAV and stream sensor data to ground. Successfully demonstrated the system in Thailand.

PhD in Advanced Analysis and Visualization Techniques for Atmospheric Science.Proposed multiple new unsupervised learning algorithms for analysing and visualizing atmospheric science data. Techniques included both on-line and offline methods. Created a software framework for collecting, analysing and displaying sensor data during data gathering sorties, with live analysis and display combined with flight tracking to reduce the length of flight time spent in non-relevant atmospheric space.

Design/ Welding EngineerPartner. General engineering, welding and fabrication. Self-started business with two friends. Manufacturing automotive stillages, various farm equipment, small buildings and custom motorcycles. Primary supplier of transport stillages for moulded vehicle components.

Production EngineerResponsible for all aspects of production in 2 production cells. Introduction of new products, including the ‘next generation’ advancement, from raw design through to on-going manufacturing support. Machine specification for current processes and introduction of new processes to reduce manufacturing costs. Leading teams of up to 5 people on various projects with one person working directly for me full time. Processes include rubber moulding, mechanical assembly, metal forming, vacuum and vibration testing. Work carried out to various automotive standards requiring full implementation of 5S, lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Pfmea, Gauge R&R studies & SPC of all processes.Introduced the Jaguar Active Engine mount to production. Significant cycle time reductions up to 50% by introducing new technology. Introduced no fault forward, in process control and full SPC into full production.

I carried out design and specification of jigs, tools, plant & machinery for unique processes. Project control & design for new machinery and new product introduction. I also provided design level technical support for the shop floor for all equipment. I was responsible for implementing 5S & lean manufacturing & Kaizen events, value stream mapping & layout of machinery to improve process flow and was the six sigma champion. I trained in and introduced PFMEA, Gauge R&R, SPC and other automotive standard procedures. Additional responsibilities included the risk assessment program and suggestion scheme.
