My research, conducted in collaboration with the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, has contributed critical information for addressing stakeholder concerns and informing policy decions regarding management of human-shark conflict and white shark conservation.My skills and responsibilities included: - Designing, coordinating and undertaking laboratory and field-based research, including experiments, ecological sampling programs, and boat-based research in estuarine, coastal and offshore environments- Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and project partners (university and government) to meet project goals within agreed time and budget parameters- Using strong initiative to anticipate, identify and resolve key project challenges and issues- Adopting and using a wide range of technical laboratory and field-based skills including marine species identification, ecological sampling and survey protocols, animal necropsy, elemental analysis, stable isotope analysis, proximate nutritional analysis, animal handling and tagging, collecting and analysing spatial data and digital sensor data (e.g. inertial measurement unit data)- Extensive experience in R for writing and implementing custom functions, programming piplines, manipulation, visualisation and statistical analysis of large complex datasets (e.g. univariate and multivariate modelling, time series analysis, classifcation techniques), and processing and analysing GIS spatial data.- Effective communication of my research to specialist and non-specialist audiences through a range of media including peer-reviewed publications in leading ecological journals, presentations at scientific conferences and in the general media (podcasts, radio, newspaper articles, Australian Museum "Sharks" exhibit) -
