Working in the Client Incentives (formally Business Partnership Agreements) team within Business Finance - the commercial strategy arm of finance at Visa Europe. Responsible for the forecasting/evaluating the financial return of significant bids and new proposals to partner with major banks and financial institutions, supporting the Relationship Management (RM) and Bid teams.Involves leading the financial evaluation of numerous deals in order to win and retain new business and partnering with the relationship managers to negotiate deal terms and conditions with members. The deals range from extensions of minor product revenue retention deals with small existing partners, to highly complex, multi-scenario 10 year deals winning multi-billion euros portfolios from competitors worth tens of millions of euros in new revenue. Act as an effective advisor on complex financial issues to the RM business and senior management to aid in the decision making process; develop improvements to the PFG modelling; present financial offers to external members during presentations/deal negotiations; work closely with the legal team in re-evaluating contract schedules to ensure the final contracts reflect the terms agreed by the EMC, and track member performance once the contracts are live.

Working in the Business Finance team. Responsible for the financial evaluation and modelling of investment proposals, supporting the NPD, Marketing, RM and Risk businesses. Involved leading the financial evaluation of new products and initiatives; providing financial governance over projects, challenging the business’ assumptions and developing bespoke financial business cases to determine the financial return for Visa Europe.Established a new business case process, standardising the sourcing of inputs from the latest market data and incorporating customised scenario testing and sensitivity analysis to ascertain potential risks and opportunities. Composed business case training documentation for non-finance heads of business and product managers.Financial representative on a number of project boards and at negotiations with external suppliers.

Headed up Profitability Reporting and Analysis for the Global Commercial Card business in the European region, reporting to VP/LFO EMEA Finance. Innovated new client profitability reporting rolled out profitability targets for account managers and strategies to enhance profitability of products in the region. Constructed analysis for investments and in co-brand, vertical and distribution deals in a number of European markets. Achieved a Global Client Group award for driving $2M savings in S&B costs and reductions in write-offs. Part of the company mentoring program.

Pricing role secondment, supporting the Global Client Group in the Commercial Card Business based at Amex HQ in New York.Led a number of Corporate Card and Purchasing Card multi-regional pricings for high spend multinational customers (deals totalling combined 5 year contribution of over $20M).

Planning, Forecasting and results analysis for the European Commercial Card Business.Supporting European Commercial card business in the creation and consolidation of all Forecasts and Long Range Plans. Providing monthly results analysis and recommendations for strategic actions, and producing business cases for investment appraisals.

Supported the International Consumer Card businesses with financial modelling on a wide range of new initiatives. During which time I won the “CIMA & Financial Management - Part Qualified Accountant of the Year 2004” award for my leadership on the financial business case of the Express Pay project to roll out contact-less payment technology.Investment appraisals for new business and re-engineering initiatives, full involvement in the Plan process evaluating market investment submissions, management of month-end reporting, A&P accrual and operations alignment processes. Elected from all International Finance staff to go on Go & Grow Program to Miami (2004). Founding member of the European Finance Good Citizenship Committee.

Month-end accounting role supporting the transition of the online stock-broking business (Sharepeople) into the American Express Global Brokerage & Membership Banking framework. Responsible for a small team responsible for managing the Purchase Ledger and Fixed Asset Register, month-end management accounting and reporting to executive management, annual budget process, and the monthly reconciliation between the Sharepeople and American Express accounting systems.
