Initially leading transition to a major ground system upgrade, then later with the Flight Operations Team (FOT), working primarily the Post-Launch Testing.3/2011 - 3/2014: NASA JPSS FreeFlyer Project. Ground Systems and Operations Manager/Engineer, FAISAT Telecom Satellite SystemResponsible for concept development, project planning, and systems engineering related to ground systems and operations for requirements and development of 32-satellite commercial little- LEO constellation. Specified ground segment requirements to the subsegment level. Wrote SOWs and managed Request For Information efforts with contractors for subsegments. Developed mission operations concepts as part of early mission concept development. Responsible for assembling, training, and managing operations team, products, and processes to conduct operations of FAISAT-2V, a test satellite launched in Sept 97. Performed team management, coordination with ground system subcontractors and in-house spacecraft development and test group, and gave extensive input to ground station development and operations facility build-up.

12/1991 - 6/1996: Lead Observatory Engineer, Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) – NASA/GSFCAfter launch (12/95), responsible for day-to-day detailed health analysis of spacecraft bus, non-routine operations planning, directing orbital maneuver operations, and technical direction of engineers and operators for $1B ESA/NASA SOHO mission. Prior to launch (12/91-12/95), responsible for understanding SOHO spacecraft functions and developing operations concepts, procedures, timelines, and processes for many bus subsystems, with primary responsibility for Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystem, Antenna and RF Communication Subsystem, and Electrical Power Subsystem. Interfaced with ESA management, European spacecraft experts, NASA Goddard management and ground segment developers, including numerous meetings, formal reviews, document writing and reviewing, etc. Directed other engineers and operators in generation of operations products and processes.4/1990 - 11/1991: Operations Engineer, Low-Power Atmospheric Compensation Experiment (LACE) – SDIO/NRL Served as Operations Engineer for SDIO/NRL (Naval Research Lab) LACE mission (launched 2/90). Responsible for approving operations plans and specifying and directing special operations from 8/91-12/91. From 4/90 to 8/91, alternated working at control center, responsible for day-to-day real-time operations, and at one of two transportable ground stations. Both facilities verified telemetry and health of satellite. Operations plans and procedures were developed and simulated at the control center, then the operator directed ground stations in conducting passes. As Spacecraft Analyst (and eventually Supervisor) at the ground station, I was responsible for commanding the satellite and capturing health and science data. Responsible for readiness of all ground station systems and coordinating rapid packing and moving of station.

Crew Commander, Global Positioning System (GPS)Served as leader of operations crew - responsible for 10-15 member crew, interfacing with external agencies, and all Mission Control Complex (MCC) operations.Mission Controller, Global Positioning System (GPS)Managed three-man teams responsible for conducting operations of a 14-satellite constellation, integrating team inputs and commanding the vehicles for proper performance. Console lead for two launches and commanded many orbital maneuvers.
