Richard is the Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Avistone, LLC, a real estate private equity and investment management firm involved in the acquisition and operation of industrial and business park properties nationwide. Since its founding in 2013, Avistone has acquired 20 industrial business parks with approx. 3 million square feet of commercial space, consisting of office, warehouse, R&D, high-tech and retail use in California, Georgia, Texas, Florida and Ohio.Richard brings more than 35 years of experience in financial services, real estate investment, and capital markets to the company. Richard has completed transactions in commercial properties valued at more than $2 billion. Prior to founding Avistone, he served as a senior executive at Auction.com, where his primary responsibilities involved the procurement and management of auctioned multifamily, commercial and hospitality properties valued at over $600 million. Over the course of his career, Richard has held senior positions in the commercial real estate departments of Wall Street firms, commercial banks and real estate operating firms, including Salomon Smith Barney, Commercial Capital Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) and Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage. His career in the financial markets began at Drexel Burnham, where he traded mortgage-backed securities while hedging interest rate risk in the financial futures markets. With his experience and performance in transactional real estate, Richard has been a speaker and panelist at numerous commercial real estate conferences over the years, including discussing distressed assets and the auction process at NAIOP and Special Asset Management Association events. A licensed California real estate broker, he earned his B.A. degree in Economics at San Diego State University.
