About Richard Killick
I am a lecturer and principal investigator in the Department of Old Age Psychiatry, King’s College London based in the new Maurice Wohl Clinical Neuroscience Institute. I obtained my BSc in Neurobiology and a PhD in Molecular Biology at Sussex University, where I also held post-doctoral positions. I moved on from studying how the ear works to investigating the molecular mechanisms driving Alzheimer’s disease and joined the Institute of Psychiatry in 1999 to carry out this line of research with others also working on neurodegeneration. I am now particularly interested in how beta-amyloid induces p53 to drive its target gene, Dickkopf1 (Dkk1), and the downstream signalling mechanisms this activates. I am currently in recipient of funding from the MRC and the ARUK.
