As the Managing Director of the Kimpton Group, I take ultimate responsibility for creation and implementation of key strategies. As the Kimpton group effectively comprises of four autonomous business streams these strategies and their component parts require regular attention in order to ensure the Group offering is consistent.I'm probably at my happiest when involved in commercial negotiation but also take responsibility for the brand development, key personnel appointments and supply chain management.The Kimpton Group is a multi-disciplinary Mechanical services provider with over 50 years expertise in all aspects of mechanical services covering HVAC design and installation, renewable energy solutions, air conditioning and ongoing planned and preventative maintenanceAnd more recently in Acoustic Engineering covering acoustic enclosures, acoustic screening and barriers, packaged plant and machine rooms, acoustic ventilation, noise havens for industrial environments and machine noise reduction.

As Air Conditioning Director I continued to manage installations and also to seek service and maintenance opportunities for the group. Major contracts such as Boots stores (North West England and North Wales) and Dixon Currys (North England) were won and helped to establish the company as a key player in the North West.

when given the opportunity to join one of the family business, albeit on a temporary basis, at a time when I was getting tired of factory life, I was quick to accept. I soon found that even though the workload was more taxing, the rewards (not necessarily financial) were much greater. Initially I would spend some days servicing equipment and the other days I was either office bound or would be surveying and pricing installations. With low overheads and the reputation of the parent company we soon managed to gain a foothold in a rapidly developing market.

Plessey Telecommunications, Edge Lane Liverpool

I served technician apprenticeship working mainly on the design and testing of digital telephone exchanges. During my years at Edge Lane, I gained work experience in a variety of departments (Testing/manufacture/design/marketing) which served me well in the years to come. for the first three years we attended Old Swan Technical College, there after we transferred to Liverpool Polytechnic for the final two years.Whilst factory life was enjoyable and very well paid, at the end of the day it didn't suit me and as soon as I had attained my qualifications I was happy to leave.
