Began career in the U.S. Army, serving with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. After Regular Army military service, continued service part time in the US Army Reserves and progressed through civilian career roles of increasing responsibility in engineering, maintenance and operations management with Procter & Gamble, Honeywell, ABB, Johnson & Johnson and Calpine. Previously, was plant manager of an energy center serving a large refinery on the island of Curacao with Marubeni Power as well as plant managed 13 Co-Generation sites with Chevron and was asset manager for 9 combined cycle power plants with Tenaska. Recently, Senior Product Manager at General Electric on the Product Management team, responsible for advanced predictive thermodynamic performance modeling products – GateCycleTM and EfficiencyMapTM. Progressed to Director of Operations at DTE Energy, providing leadership to a Land Fill Gas to Energy operation that includes 5 Gas Turbines, gas plant compression and gas quality systems. Then progressed to Regional Engineering and Maintenance Manager as part of Amazon’s corporate-based engineering team managing seven Sort Centers located in the West Region of the USA, focused on the customer and innovation driving the growth of Amazon. Then progressed to Utilities Manager at Resolute Forest Products focusing on improving reliability of the Power Operations and Engineering and Maintenance Manager at Saint-Gobain improving the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing systems producing Medical Device components. More recently advancing to Director of Electric Production at Hastings Utilities and as Director Facilities at Illumina, Inc., principal responsibilities include direct management of facilities staff and functions, strategic infrastructure planning, planned and predictive maintenance, central plant utilities, fire life safety systems, and related capital and expense budget development and performance, including identification and execution of operating efficiencies, business continuity and cost saving strategies for utilities, sustainability, and LEED. Formal education includes a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Design from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from Boston University.
