As an Assistant Professor, La Fleur has designed, developed, and taught various courses in Psychology ranging from Introduction to Psychology to graduate-level courses such as Phenomenology of Social Existence. After completing his post-doc at the College of The Holy Cross, La Fleur uses face-to-face and online environments to deliver relevant and evidence-based content to students. His approach helps students develop their critical thinking skills and create a safe and challenging learning environment. This has resulted in students discovering their passions and pathways for life and ultimately determining their place in the world. La Fleur is the author of many articles in well-established journals such as The Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the European Society of Medicine. He is also the author of a relevant and needed textbook, Psychology as a Human Science, a way to examine the lived experience with a scientific approach. This is part of his commitment to increase the wealth of knowledge in the discipline of Psychology and engage students in human science research. As an active researcher on topics related to veterans and marginalized populations, bringing people together through mentorship and meaningful relationships is one of the ways he connects praxis and theory. Most of his research has been presented internationally at various conferences and as keynote addresses. Leadership training is a lifelong passion for La Fleur. His work in leadership began through his role as a Chief Financial Officer for a non-profit organization, where he served for over 14 years. Additionally, he also serves as the Director of Counseling for a 13,000-member church in Atlanta, GA. As a practicing leader, La Fleur continues to work with companies such as Greystone Power Company and others, to train leaders and foster healthy and productive work environments. Developing and designing systems and process that fosters innovation and initiative, gives employees the freedom and responsibility to make decisions. As a former Walt Disney World cast member, La Fleur embodies the fundamental philosophy of Walt Disney, "Dream. Believe. Dare. Do". By embracing the 'hows' and 'whys' of a company's mission and vision, growth and excellence are byproducts of innovative change.
