DB E&C (formally Deutsche Bahn International) is the engineering services and consultancy division of Deutsche Bahn AG. My primary responsibilities include:• Product development of a new product called ‘DB Analytics,’ an integrated big data simulation and analysis in line with DB’s vision for Mobility 4.0. This product utilises DB’s inhouse capabilities and partnerships with major software developers in the rail industry to offer a wide range of simulation and analytics solutions such as yard analysis, pedestrian and station analysis and operational optimisation and analysis.• Business development in the UK, Western Europe, African, and Australian markets. Initial focus on data capturing and analytics for improving the understanding of passenger flows and behaviours to achieve improved customer service, operations, and asset utilisation.

Operations assessment for the Eglington Cross Town LRT

ProjectFEL 2 Study on the Technical and Operational Requirements for project Shongololo for Transnet Freight Rail, South AfricaI was the lead engineer of the feasibility study for the new 200-wagon distributed power operation of the export coal trains for Transnet Freight Rail in South Africa. This included simulation of the proposed operations and analysis of the infrastructure, operations, crew and rolling stock requirements. The study also made recommendations regarding alterations needed to implement the operations including infrastructure improvement and improved asset utilisation to take advantage of the newly delivered dual-voltage locomotives.
