I originated my own loans and recruited new loan officers to Carteret, while also supervising and assisting with their loan processing, underwriting submissions, closing and post closing issues. We performed our own marketing campaigns, each quarter of each year. I monitored investor pricing and programs on a daily basis and determined the best mortgage investment for my clients. This job required an individual, who was very self-motivated, paid attention to details and could analyze problems and operate with minimal supervision to complete tasks. It was necessary to review numerous contracts to ensure they met various investor requirements. The meeting of deadlines was crucial in this business. Carteret afforded individuals a unique opportunity to function as though they operated their own small businesses, while actually remaining under the corporate licensing and organizational structure of a larger corporation. Nearly every year, a six figure income was attained. In 2008, the mortgage industry began experiencing unprecedented turmoil, making this business environment increasingly more difficult to achieve goals. Carteret went out of business in September of 2008. -

Division ManagerSuburban Bank Of Maryland - Mortgage Diviion Oct 1997 - Dec 1999Suburban Bank of Maryland expressed interest in achieving a presence in residential lending by offering home mortgages. The bank had NEVER originated a residential mortgage! I developed the necessary business infrastructure and recruited a staff to establish a small, retail residential mortgage lending division. I started with nothing and build it into a small profit center. I recruited and hired an entire office staff. This required use of my knowledge of various small business procurement strategies, making many decisions on tasks and procedural operations and logistical problem solving.. I was required to create reports and prepare documents for the bank’s officers on a regular basis. I used my knowledge of data and information management to prepare for these presentations. I recruited and hired five loan originators and two loan processors who also performed closing, post closing and shipping duties.My experience in developing this mortgage division and handling all phases of the business operation was enjoyable, educational, challenging and rewarding. Suburban Bank merged with a larger bank in late 1999 and early 2000, which had a pre-existing mortgage division. I did not wish to assume a lesser role in that operation.
