Achieving 8% under budget and 1 month ahead of schedule.Mission Australia, Redfern. The project completion of a purpose built 72 bed aged care residence for the homeless, on time and on budgetWoolworths Shopping Village, Ulladulla. Greenfield site with Woolworths as the anchor store plus 14 tenancies, bringing the project in on budget and 3 weeks ahead of schedule.

Robinson Healthcare are a UK based manufacturer of healthcare consumables and medical devices, supplying NHS Hospitals, medical professionals, and major retailers. It exports to 50+ countries and has 200+ staff.Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, I was responsible for the restructuring of the engineering department and the implementation of a new site wide maintenance strategy. After outsourcing the engineering functions to O'Hare Eng. Ltd I took the role as Key Account Manager for O'Hare Engineering on the site. It was in this role I continued to implement the maintenance strategy for the site. I left this role to migrate to Australia.Achievements include:Integrating key engineering functions into the production teams and outsourcing engineering facilities providing an increase in production efficiency of 5% and a cost saving of $1.2M.Implemented autonomous and maintenance systems across the production department improving overall efficiency from 78% to 85% saving $2.5M.

Georgia Pacific is one of the worlds leading manufacturer and distributor of paper, pulp, packaging, building products. It employs 35,000+ people worldwide and operates in 300+ locations across North & South America and Europe. Headquarters are in Atlanta, Georgia. Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations manager, I was responsible for developing and implementing the maintenance strategy for the production, and site facilities management. I managed 44 employees covering all disciplines and shift patterns to deliver best practice engineering on the site. My role also held the responsibility for the standards in the production facility and the preparation for OHS and ISO quality audits. The key to my success in this role was my ability to build, lead and motivate teams, to analyse and plan strategically, to maximize the effectiveness of available resources and to successfully manage multiple priorities. I was able to build on strong communication skills and develop my experience of change management in a high pressure and service quality environment.Achievements include:Restructuring of the engineering department to provide a service efficiency improvement of 5% and a cost saving of $2M.Building Autonomous Maintenance teams in the production crews increasing efficiency by 6% saving an average of $1.5MImplementing planned and predictive maintenance programs reducing downtime from 18% to 9%.

Engineering & Technical Support GroupI was responsible for the engineering and technical support for the Health & Beauty Care Operations UK. I Pro-actively managed production improvement projects and engineering support strategies through 18 multi skilled technicians and 3 process engineers. I was directly accountable to the Site General Manager for successfully delivering ongoing support of several significant process improvement initiatives and strategic customer driven organizational change programs.Achievements Include:Production line speed up from 240 to 300 bottles per min. (European benchmark). Project involved installation, commissioning and qualifying prototype equipment.Successful European market launch of new Pantene and Wash & Go formulations, building market share from 28% to 33%.Implementation of engineering projects and process solutions to the making and packing departments, achieving process reliability from 80% to 87% delivering $2M savings.Restructuring of technical support groups and implementation strategies across six high-speed lines. Strategies include Autonomous Maintenance, Predictive maintenance and Focused Improvement concepts of TPM.

Reporting to the plant operations manager, my responsibility was to manage 2 high-speed production lines through 48 operating technicians on a 7-day shift cycle in a high volume FMCG environment. I was directly accountable for the performance of these teams in terms of cost control, quality, productivity and safety. The position also involved the setting of team objectives directly relating to plant performance targets, identifying and fulfilling training needs and setting employee development plans.Achievements include:Successfully implementing 7 day running from a 5-day operation without loss in productivity.Recruited, trained and integrated 4th shift team whilst maintaining 85% line efficiency.Initiated and lead team based projects generating significant reductions in packing losses.Led focused improvement program to reduce operating costs by 20%.Implementation of quality improvement projects reducing defects on tape formulation by 18%.

The main focus of my role was the continuous improvement of our high-speed paper converting process operations. This included the implementation of reliability engineering and maintenance systems, improving line efficiencies, safety improvement projects and reducing operating costs. The role involved problem-solving issues using complex data analysis and implementing engineering solutions, which met cost and the departmental objectives.Achievements include:Implementation of rapid size change program for 14hrs to 5hrs.Standardization of equipment across 10 packing lines.Packing line efficiency improvement from 81% to 87%.Diapers waste reduction by 5% over 2 months.

I served a 4-year apprenticeship as a maintenance technician working on equipment installation projects, shutdown maintenance and routine maintenance of process plant and equipment. During my apprenticeship I gained my ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering I also worked for a further year in the project design office. I left ICI to pursue my degree in Mechanical Engineering at U.M.I.S.T.
