Oroson is a startup that provides a way for agencies and other teams to share visual assets with clients and provide feedback on them. I led the product and engineering side of Oroson. Highlights included: • Design and implementation of the entire Oroson platform alongside the Oroson development team. We were building something new so we adopted a process of rapid iteration with continuous feedback, in order to move fast and refine the product.• Worked with the sales and commercial team to translate customer requests and market needs into platform features.• Hands-on development and architecture of Oroson platform. Some of the technologies included:Google Cloud, Java / Spring Boot, Angular, NodeJS, Android, Postgres.• Observing customers and usage. We built a detailed analytics pipeline to provide real data on customer usage. Technologies included: Google Analytics, Google Big Query (SQL), Google Data Studio, Mixpanel, Intercom.• DevOps, management, and support of the entire Oroson infrastructure on AWS and Google Cloud, alongside two other engineers. Technologies included:- AWS - Lamda, ECS, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS Postgres, EC2, Route 53, ECS, CDK, Cloud Formation.- Google Cloud - Big Query, PubSub, Datastudio- Docker- GitHub actions• Recruited, managed, and mentored a five-person engineering team.

As a lead architect I had the following duties:• Technical responsibility for the SCP platform and its technology roadmap.• Evolution and investigation of new technologies and components to enhanceSCP.• Mentoring within the engineering teams.• Hands-on development to trial new features and components.• Leading prototypes of new features and technologies, which are useful for the product. These included:- Web based Visual Service Designer, which provides a Web IDE and tooling to allow users to develop and orchestrate services.- High performance reporting solution based on Apache Cassandra and a home grown groovy DSL to gather API metrics.- Automated installation scripts to deploy the entire ASE platform on AWS or a Openstack environment.- Extensions to SCP.- Numerous pre-sales and customer demos.- Refractoring and re-architecture of SCP to more readily support clouddeployments such as Cloud Foundry and AWS.• Member of the Intel ISD architecture team. This was a small group of <10 individuals handpicked individuals, who represent the 700+ ISD org from an architecture perspective.
Technical Product Manager And Principal Architect
The Telecom Web Services (TWS) project is a core component of the API Monetisation Platform. It is a high-performance Java and OSGi based application server. While technical lead for this project I was involved with the following:• WAC 0.1 Beta Platform: I was the technical lead/architect for this Aepona delivery. This involved developing a series of new components for the Aepona AMP platform including an authorisation gateway, which supported both OAuth1 and OAuth2.• Proposal, design, and implementation of a new three-layered architecture to allow services to be highly modular. This was an adapter-based architecture based on OSGi services, where both north and southbound protocol adapters can be dynamically added to any existing web service enabler atruntime.• Design and implementation of OneAPI project. Technical lead for the team, which developed the world's first OneAPI commercial gateway. Aepona has received a number of awards for innovation within this project including the prestigious 'Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award'.• Participant in the OneAPI access group. The OneAPI 'access' group was a group of OneAPI operators and vendors who defined the OneAPI specifications. • Performance tuning of TWS core architecture. The TWS product had performance requirements of hundreds of stateful transactions per second. It also had to scale to thousands of users.• Producing functional specifications for new services. Responsible for creating functional specifications and designs for new services based on the requirements provided by the product management team.• Implementation of various SOAP / REST web services and adapters. The TWS product consisted of numerous web services and adapters. • Provided leadership and training for junior team members. The TWS team consisted of developers based in Belfast, and offshore teams in Sri Lanka and Manilla.

Development of web services on the TWS platform. These were highly concurrent Java based applications which ran on the Aepona Telecom Application Server and consumed the Aepona OSA Parlay gateway using CORBA. Development of high-performance IN-type applications (VPN. VPBX. Missed Call Notification).
Lead Deployment Engineer
Deployment and integration of the Aepona Telecoms stack within mobile operations globally. This included:• Oracle 9i, Oracle10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), installation, administration, tuning, database backup and recovery, and debugging on customer sites. • Solaris 8 and 9 installations, system administration and debugging including Solaris networking. Unix scripting for automated installation, configuration capture, system backup and recovery, etc. • Signaling System 7 (SS7). Integration with customer networks using the TietoEnator SS7 and Ulticom Signalware SS7 stack. Layers involved included INAP, CAP, ETSIMAP, ANSIMAP, SCCP, and the MTP layers of the SS7 stack. • Customer Facing: Represented Aepona at customer sites globally and was therefore often the contact point between the customer and Aepona on technical issues.
