I am a partner in the firm's Elder Law and health Care Practice Group responsible for handling all elder law and health care issues. I concentrate my practice in two distinct areas. The first is advice and planning for both elderly individuals, as well as families with disabled relatives, to best protect assets and maximize the avalability of government benefits, such as Medicaid and Social Security. I also represent patients in health insurance and Medicare appeals. The asset protection work for seniors primarily revolves around qulaifying seniors who are entering into skilled nursing care for Medicaid benefits. The second area of my practice concentrates on advising and counseling Medicaid/Medicare providers on claim audits and the implementation and effectiveness of Medicaid compliance plans to comport with both federal and New York State law. This also involves representing these providers in all phases of the audit propcess, including appeals.

Advised and represented the Chronic Care, Home Care and Adult Protective units of the Department of Human Services. Supervised the audits of over thirty Medicaid providers for the County Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse Demonstration Project.
