Starting as an apprentice at Coldon Engineering Co Limited in 1984, I spent much of the first four years learning the basics of operating manual machine tools and programming CNC controls. Becoming a skilled machinist made the move to CAD CAM programming much easier.Over the next ten years, I gained experience in all other office and workshop skills, working in each department also helped when it was time to modernise the business, moving to a digital workspace.Embracing change and constant improvement has been essential working with customers like; Raytheon UK, BAE Systems, Airbus, Leonardo and Safran helicopter engines.I became a Director of Coldon Engineering in 2006, concentrating on core business activities, retraining to carry out internal auditing and overseeing the implementation of business policies.My focus now is expanding the company by means of new technology, automation and machining techniques to increase our efficiency. We are due to take delivery of a new 5 axis 8 pallet machine tool August 2022 which is part of the process of continual improvement.
