Manage $4.2M projects to in-source initial manufacturing operations for one of the key value streams in the facility.Led technical specifications for the manufacturing equipment, which included welding and machining assets.Introduced and led 3d printing (FEM) effort. The parts were utilized for all aspects of manufacturing development as well as equipment maintenance.

•Developed and wrote gear machining simulation tools (MATLAB) for gear shaping and gear profile milling. Utilization of these tools led to a documented $2.5M in velocity/capacity improvements. •Utilized FEA based software (3rd Wave AdvantEdge) to help determine root cause of surface tearing issues on large (3 meter) double helical gears. Developed new industry unique tooling for use in the profile milling machines. This has eliminated the need to move parts between machines as well as reduced the overall manual tool changes by 50%. •Led technical corrective action management in Six Sigma project of suppliers overseeing Gage R&R, machining and heat treat test lots. This lead to annual savings from reduction in scrap of $250,000 per year.•Developed methodology to determine specific quality parameters on gears utilizing standard CMMs. It was generally accepted that purpose built gaging was required, but through a quick research and validation effort, it was shown to not be necessary. This project yielded an NPV of $2.5M with an initial investment of $75,000. This work has now led to a patent which is currently pending.•Led the initial cost estimation effort for a new product at an international facility. Once approved, I provided the technical guidance for the purchase of a 12 meter milling machine. •Led NPI assembly effort for a light weight transmission housing. This included leading the assembly technicians during the assembly of the transmission as well as documenting the process.

• Researched innovative and low cost mechanical enhancement process (Liquid Jet Cavitation Peening) for aerospace materials• Designed and built unique hydraulic fluid based cavitation peening system for use in standard machine tool environment• Performed extensive DOE to evaluate efficacy of peening process on mechanical properties (residual stress) and surface texture (hardness/roughness)• Research activities were sponsored through Boeing’s 21st Century Aerospace Manufacturing Initiative
