Dr. Richard Bond currently works as a College and Career Readiness School Models Leadership Coach for Educate Texas at the Communities Foundation of Texas and at Dallas College as an Adjunct Art Professor. He worked for the Dallas ISD as an arts educator and then as an Arts/ECHS administrator. He was among one of the top 100 exemplary teachers chosen from the Dallas ISD’s new distinguished teacher evaluation system introduced in 2015. At Skyline, he established a successful ECHS program that has consistently met all ECHS benchmark metrics from the TEA, particularly in recruitment and retention of students. Throughout Dr. Bond’s career in education, his hallmark has been always to promote curriculums and professional developments that foster college and career readiness. Originally from Philadelphia, he moved to New York City after graduate school to work for the prestigious London-based art auction house of Sotheby’s where he fully utilized his MBA and art history degrees. He worked with decorative arts departmental experts and staff and reported directly to the chief financial officer. Dr. Bond founded a specialty retail business in NYC, which provided a personalized and customized corporate gift service to a broad range of local and international clients from corporate CEOs to society benefit organizers. His business took him to major national and international trade shows, including the Baselworld Fair in Switzerland. He was profiled in the “Entrepreneurial” issue of Esquire Magazine. In 2000, Dr. Bond transitioned from the business world to education and received a Master of Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2002. He began teaching visual art at the secondary level for Dallas ISD in August of 2002. Dr Bond believes that education in the arts prepares students to think and express themselves creatively, communicate effectively, and understand and appreciate diversity. Dr Bond presented his doctoral research findings at the 2014 National Art Education Association (NAEA) National Convention in San Diego, California. His dissertation focused primarily on social justice and the importance of full inclusion of all stakeholders in an Advanced Placement art history program. Dr. Bond’s doctorate in art education provides him with an arsenal of practice and expertise in educational research and a great understanding with the institutions of undergraduate and graduate education. As a career arts professional, he brings to the table a unique set of skills that will enhance the culture and productivity of any organization he chooses to join.
