About Richard Pearce

40 years of invention, development and production of marine acoustic sensors and towed arrays. Inventor of first commercial non oil filled towed array in 1988. Inventor of first PVDF acoustic sensor for use in seismic towed arrays, VLA and bottom referenced acoustic arrays. Invented first PVDF Copolymer wire acoustic sensor. Currently involved with newly developed additive manufacturing sensor technologies producing ultra quiet non-oil-filled towed arrays. Towed arrays incorporating this new technology provide users a singificant advantage in performance and operational windows when compared to conventionally equipped towed arrays, liquid filled, gel filled or solid. Invented first effective method of active cancelling of TBL flow noise on towed arrays and hull mounted sensors.Specialties: Unconventional Marine acoustics and vector sensors
