I WORKED AS A FIELD ENGINEER FOR GLOBAL CROSSING FOR 7 MONTHS

This involved building a variety of Colt cabinets and the equipment/looms located within to customer specifications and commissioning of all the SDH multiplexers. My position also involved dealing with enquires from other departments in relation to work orders and teaching Trainee Technicians how to build and commission. When the Senior Workshop Technician was absent I had the responsibility of running the workshop, ensuring that work orders were completed correctly and allocating work to the two other Workshop Technicians

This involved testing various PCBs on the appropriate equipment. Where faults occurred it was my responsibility to locate and rectify the problem.

My apprenticeship enabled me to move from section to section within Marconi, so that I could learn the different skills I would need for my future career.
