In 2008, Dr. Propper Co-founded a primary and elementary school in Tanzania with his daughter called Zariki, which now educates and feeds daily over 280 students ages three to nine. Last year it was designated by the Tanzanian government as one of the top performing schools in the entire country.

In 2001, Dr. Propper founded Chardan Ventures, the predecessor to Chardan Capital, LLC, a financial strategic consulting firm based in San Diego. Chardan’s mission was to build business relationships between Chinese and U.S. companiesIn December 2003, he raised his first SPAC, Chardan China Acquisition Corporation, which eventually merged with Origin Agritech and is currently a NASDAQ-listed company (SEED). In 2005 he raised two more SPACs, one of which completed its merger with HollySys (HOLI). The other completed its merger with Liaoning GaoKe and was listed on NASDAQ as APWR.

Dr. Propper worked as a Research Fellow in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He was also a Fellow in Medicine at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and a Fellow in Pediatric Oncology at the Dana Farber Cancer Center. He served as Associate Director of the Blood Bank, Chief of the Pheresis Service at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. During his medical career, Propper published over 40 papers and three textbook chapters, and is renowned for his clinical research in the treatment of thalassemia major.
