I founded our insurance consulting niche in 1997, while working at Meeker Sharkey, an insurance broker that was acquired and after several subsequent acquisitions over the years, we are now part of Willis Towers Watson, and known as the Willis Capital Markets Consulting Group. Our group has many clients consisting of all forms of lenders that originate all types of loans. Our group specializes in construction loans of all types and health care loans- we handled the largest single loan securitization reviews for skilled nursing facilities in the U.S. with assistance from Benefits experts within our firm. We have significant expertise in both advising lenders and in placing environmental insurance as a broker. Our group has worked with rating agencies and insurers to develop the first approved environmental policy to protect a lender as a substitute for typical environmental indemnification requirements. Over the years we have routinely interacted with numerous other third parties including: law firms, appraisers, zoning specialists, engineering firms that analyze catastrophic risk, environmental experts and rating agencies. We helped to create the first Political Risk Insurance policy as a broker covering a cross-border property that was part of a securitized loan. We dominate the Single Family Rental S(SFR) space as the leading insurance consultant, having reviewed the first securitized SFR)loan several years ago for the largest Borrower in this space. We worked with the insurance broker and rating agencies to set the standard for SFR loans. When lenders, law firms and rating agencies look for advice on insurance related matters they often reach out to us, as we are recognized as experts and a pioneer in the lending consulting space.
