Partner with the contract manufacturer (CM) to resolve all manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) issues. Evaluate prototypes and validate final design. Prepare all data (BOM’s, drawings, models) needed to release the design to manufacturing. Serve as Local WindChill administrator.• Served as the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer on both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Director Class Switch chassis which house blade style Leaf and Spine modules in 11RU to 35RU complex chassis configurations. Additionally, designed power distribution networks utilizing 8 to 20 AC/DC supplies with custom bus bar interconnect to all modules. • Managed Top Level Assembly, providing space claims and mating interfaces to engineers designing the plug-in modules. Performed interference checks to validate stack-up tolerance analysis to ensure adequate clearance between plug-in modules and chassis. Certified proper connector mating between plug-in modules and chassis interconnect.• Partnered with Molex on the mechanical design and routing feasibility of the complex, twinax cabled interconnect utilizing up to 7 miles of wiring in a 35RU chassis.• Collaborated with hardware engineers on design details needed for integrated Leaf, Spine, and Management Module testers for 100% functional coverage verification. Designed, released to build, and validated the final design on the module testers.• Received recognition award for design and build efforts providing a prototype unit at Intel’s first public presentation of Omni-Path Fabric (OPA) products at SC14.• Improved group’s productivity by implementing the Windchill PDMLink tool decreasing the amount of time needed to resolve CAD model compatibility issues.
