My primary role was to design and deliver the company IT infrastructure strategy for compute, storage, backup and virtualisation to deliver sustainable ‘fit for the future’ IT services to support business objectives and move from client server to cloud architectures.As part of this I fed into the business planning cycles to determine the deliverables of IT infrastructure over a 5-year AMP cycle and created the technical roadmaps to deliver the required business services. I have considerable experience in Influencing senior leaders and company directors by translating landscape and project technical issues into the appropriate business risk language and proposing solutions to remedy. As the technical system owner for IT infrastructure, I was the driving force behind an £8M infrastructure change program to modernise the storage and backup landscape and was the architect and technical lead of a sustainable, long term £65M framework to deliver the IT infrastructure services for the next 5 years. This gave me considerable commercial experience with the UCR 2016 regulations, tendering in a regulated environment and creating and managing contracts.As part of my role I acted as the Technical Recovery Manager in major incidents such as hardware failures and ransomware attacks; communicating to all levels and achieving technical resolution.I think the key to success in my role is that I try and understand as much about how Yorkshire Water operates as a clean and waste water business and the needs and requirements of my customers.

As the subject matter expert in storage and backup technologies and responsible for the administration of the compute and virtualisation landscape, I was responsible for the smooth day to day running of the infrastructure landscape and the technical lead for a number of high-profile projects.
