Experience: 6 years as a consultant in the use of event data recorders in traffic crash reconstruction, crash reconstruction, and the performance of automobile restraint systems in crashes. 33 years with Ford Motor Company in a wide varitety of design engineering and program management, culiminating in the last 10 years as a working manager in field investigations of alleged failures of safety systems including air bags and seat belts. I teach EDR imaging and analaysis thru the University of North Florida Institute of Police Technology and Management to law enforcement and reconstructionists, and EDR analysis through the Society of Automotive Engineers to engineers. I also conduct and publish original research on EDR accuracy, and providing expert analysis to prosecutors and attorneys. Goals: Be the best possible resource to law enforcement and attorneys on automotive event data recorders & restraints.Specialties: Analysis of automotive restraint system performance, typically in defense of those wrongly accused of making or selling a defective product or of good repair shops wrongfully accused of improperly repairing or making a vehicle modifyication affecting restraint system performance, but occasionally against those rightfully accused of making an improper repair or vehicle modification. Airbag nondeployments or alleged inadvertent deployments are my subspecialty within restraints. Retrieval and analysis of data from automotive event data recorders, from all makes and models, not limited to those supported by the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval system.
