Richard Schomper was born in 1974 in the Netherlands near Rotterdam. At the age of 13, he moved to Curacao (Caribbean) where he finished Highschool and studied between 1991-1995 at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of the Netherlands Antilles. In the years after he moved to Panama and Mexico where he picked up the Spanish language. Having to choose between USA and Europe to continue his studies he finally decided to go back to Europe, to continue his education at the TU Delft in the Netherlands. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from TU Delft, the Netherlands in 2000, and his M.Sc Degree in 2004.From 2003-2005 during his Masters, he worked for Nuon Tecno in the Netherlands, where he received practical experience while performing measurements on Power-, Distribution- & Instrument- Transformers. In January 2005, two weeks after finalizing his studies at TU Delft, he left the Netherlands and moved to Switzerland, to join Haefely Test AG in Basel as an Application Engineer.Haefely Test AG almost immediately sent him all over the world, not only to represent Haefely in front of customers, but also at international seminars and conferences, where he presented international papers on diagnostics on Transformers, Shunt Reactors, and Rotating Machines. While working for almost 19years at Haefely, he took on the positions of Product Manager, Project Manager, Business Development Manager, and Sales Manager. During these years he visited important customers in more than 55 countries and trained the new Haefely- & Hipotronics employees and representatives, in order for them to be able to sell and demonstrate the Haefely- and Hipotronics Products. In 2019 Haefely Hipotronics split up, and Richard was asked to take care of all Haefely AG Sales in Latin America from Mexico down to Argentina/Chile. Due to his excellent Sales results in South America from 2020 onwards, Richard was requested to also take over the responsibility for Spain & Portugal. In 2023 Richard finally decided to embark on a new adventure and started to work for Computer Controls AG as the Business Development Manager for the Automotive & Energy sector in Switzerland. Computer Controls AG is the representative of Keysight Technologies, and is located in Otelfingen, close to Zurich,In 2024 Richard decided to return to the Transformer & Energy World and accepted his current position as Product & Sales Manager for Transformer Monitoring at MTE. MTE is located in Zug and is famous for delivering the best Online DGA Systems for Transformer monitoring.
