I develop websites (mostly Wordpress) for clients

I was hired as an analyst working directly with the CFO, but I quickly found that we were unable to answer simple questions because our data existed in silos. My role expanded to oversee all of our data engineering projects. I developed the infrastructure to pull data from all of our key systems into a centralized data warehouse, exponentially expanding the universe of questions the company was able to answer and improving the productivity of the analyst team.I developed a highly resilient and scalable data pipeline to centralize all of our company data using AWS cloud services. EC2 ran a custom-built Python application to process data from many different sources, S3 stored and archived all the data, and Redshift powered the data warehouse to enable analysts to query it all.In addition to the core data pipeline, I developed solutions to better integrate our internal systems and share data with our partners. I worked on solutions to infuse order and customer data into our online advertising and email marketing platforms, expanding our ability to target messages to the right audience. I developed an API to share data with an advertising partner using AWS Lambda and API Gateway, allowing the partner to reduce wasteful spending by more narrowly targeting our desired audience.In my role as an analyst, I focused on tracking and improving the effectiveness of our marketing programs.

I took the job mostly because my college girlfriend had another year in Spartanburg. The girlfriend didn’t work out, but the job of automating and optimizing underwriting policy for an auto finance company was pretty great for a 22 year old math nerd.I also got a masterclass in great management.
