I was invited by my manager to join her and to train, quality check and manage teams of up to 15 for the newly setup offices in Manila. Also supported her in any other duties she had when assistance was required such as communicating back with New Zealand staff if errors were occurring.

I was originally hired to temporarily work in Underwriting Support. This involved quality control to check all policy details match between the broker and insurer documents, which I then entered into the system. I was then asked to join my manager in working on writing and proof reading documents detailing step by step instructions for data entry as these were going to the new offices in the Philippines for the workers there to use. Once my manager and team leader went to the offices in the Philippines, I was asked to take some of the team leaders responsibilities (providing the EQC with any details they require) and to manage the newly setup Helpdesk which provided a link between New Zealand and the Philippine offices in dealing with any internal queries.

Using molecular tools to characterise how the Staphylococcus aureus exotoxin, Staphylococcal Superantigen-Like protein 11 (SSL11), interacts with human myeloid cells.• Developed a confocal imaging protocol to examine how the recombinant SSL11 bound, internalised and trafficked within freshly grown primary macrophages. This allowed for co-staining of receptors and inhibitors of various processes to be used in conjunction.• Used a variety of assays such as complement ELISAs, surface plasmon resonance substrate binding, Western blots examining label transfer protein interactions and chromatography of protein dimers to characterise the plausible functions of SSL11.• Independently designed and led my project
