We are the only charity dedicated to looking after paths and green spaces, leading walks , opening up new places to explore and encouraging everyone to get outside and discover how walking boosts your health and your happiness.Over the next ten years, we will focus on three ambitions to help us make our vision a reality:1. A country designed for walking. 2. Helping everyone find their feet. 3. Connecting people through the Ramblers.As Regional Engagement Manager my role is set the direction for the Regional Engagement Team and I lead and manage a team of Regional Engagement Officers.I act as the key point of contact for Area Chairs and Secretaries and I am responsible for helping Areas to lead, coordinate and develop activities across their areas.The regional team act as relationship managers, signposting area queries to the relevant Ramblers staff and helping Areas to realise opportunities, resolve issues at local level, report on their impact and provide essential data.My team provide a connected network of support to Area committees, to help them to recruit volunteers into Area roles, to support volunteers in gaining new skills, and to support areas and groups to grow their membership and succession plan.I am also developing a regional engagement Strategy to help Areas to flourish on behalf of the Ramblers and covers areas including communication, alignment, best practice sharing, training provision, governance, fundraising, reporting and impact evaluation.

I manage the Genesis wide volunteer programme delivering volunteer placements across a wide range of business areas including community, education, youth, older people, digital inclusion, money mentors, estate inspectors, mediation, care and support, coaching, befriending, environmental, business mentoring, job search, outreach, telephone outreach, facilities management and administration. The work also includes developing new volunteer programmes that create employment opportunities for volunteers, have a social impact and adds value to the reach and capacity of Genesis Housing.The volunteer programme has a good evidence base of social impact and we are at the stage of embedding the programme so that staff can manage their own departments volunteer placements. This process is supported via training and a Genesis volunteer toolkit. I am interested in connecting with other agencies including public sector and third sector to join forces and roll out joint volunteering ventures across the capital.
