Richard retired from Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) in 2017 after 16 years. He began his career in 1978 with Exxon Chemicals in olefins operations technical support and planning, worked for Amerada Hess providing engineering support at a refinery in Mississippi, and then became a partner in the oil & gas consulting firm Groppe, Long & Littell (GL&L) in 1984. At GL&L he was involved in continuing analysis of worldwide crude oil, natural gas, and energy industries incorporating economic, commercial, political, regulatory, technical, and resource base considerations to help clients make long-term decisions concerning future business strategies. He left GL& L after 15 years in 1999 and joined IHS Energy in early 2000 as Natural Gas Business Manager – North America before moving to Saudi Arabia in May 2001.While at Saudi Aramco, Richard served in various organizations including gas marketing, new business evaluation/development, gas processing operations, and upstream gas facilities development. For the first 8 years, his work involved addressing strategic issues for Saudi Aramco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This included work that provided the “groundwork” for Aramco Chemicals and the joint venture with Dow called Sadara Chemical and an update of the Kingdom’s Gas Strategy. The last 8 years he was involved in upstream gas facilities development including Aramco’s first offshore gas field (Karan) and the first modular design and constructed gas plant (Midyan) as well as the Arabiyah and Hasbah fields.Richard is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a graduate of Mississippi State University.A detailed CV is attached.
