Responsible for Finance, Reserving, Management Accounting and IT for £27m company with 50 staff. Led strategic business review to identify cost and efficiency savings and improved controls within the Finance and Actuarial functions. Implemented closure and outsourcing of loss-making claims handling arm, delivering 24% cost savings across people, buildings and IT, and developed IT strategy and outsourced service to improve efficiency.

Responsible for financial planning and control, business case review, investment and capital management, reserving, and reinsurance for £750m GWP operation across 2 legal entities in Italy and Germany, and active member of Investment, Product Pricing & Underwriting and Loss Ratio Committees. I led the Finance Team of 50, including direct-reporting Financial Director in Germany and Head of Finance in Italy, and acted as Finance Lead for the sale of the company, responsible for preparing the Information Memorandum and Data Room and providing finance expertise in bidder presentations, contributing towards above expectation sale value of €550m. I also conducted an in-depth review of the company’s €1bn investment portfolio, identifying improvements and managing outsourcing to an external provider, increasing returns by €2m p.a., and prior to the parent company decision to sell, conducted extensive analysis and created plans to increase return on equity to 5% thorough a review of Solvency I & II requirements, dividends to Group, raising debt finance and amending reinsurance agreements.
