Reporting to the Operations Director and working closely with the Data Analyst to ensure the integrity of the information at each stage, the scope of the contract involved the collection, transmission, import, analysis and export of customer data. The implementation of the automation involved the creation of PowerShell and Windows Command Shell scripts and integrating these into SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to interface with SQL Stored Procedures and manipulate database tables. To improve the quality of the raw data, self-instruction in the installation, operation, and configuration of the person tracking hardware being used was undertaken resulting in a 20% reduction in the number of tracks being dropped. Documentation for each of the scripts and SSIS packages including operation and troubleshooting guides were created enabling BAU staff to maintain and augment the system. . Show less

I enabled cost savings by using monitoring applications to detect issues before a failure and implementated automated responses to known issues reducing manual intervention by support staff. .To enabled other analysts to understand the environment I documented all the configured monitors and responses implemented across customer environments. The documentation was then reviewed by myself on a regular basis to ensure relevance and to incorporate any changes which had been made to the environment. This ultimately lead to me creating the detailed work instructions when the 1st and 2nd line support functions were outsourced to a 3rd party.In addition to the operation and maintenance of the monitoring environment I also managed projects to define the monitoring of customer infrastructure and applications. This involved the collection and analysis of applications and there usage and involved a close working relationship with both the customer and the suppliers of any custom equipment. I then presented the analysis and made recommendations on the best methods of providing a comprehensive monitoring solution.My responsibilities also included the testing, and implementation of upgrades and patches to the hardware, operating systems, and monitoring software which comprised each customer’s monitoring implementations. All updates where implemented under an ITIL compliant change control process for which I was required to write and submit change requests and attend Change Advisory Board meetings to present the details and answer any queries that other departments may have.
