About Richard Spence
I worked as an outdoor instructor in UK and Ireland before also training and working as a rope access technician. Rope Access work has taken me across the world from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico, East Coast of the US to Cuba, and Irish sea cliffs to Canadian west coast waterfront. I have held my Rope Access level 3 status in both IRATA and SPRAT and worked as a supervisor for over a decade. My work as a rope access supervisor gave me the opportunity to be named the IRATA technical Authority for a member company and I also gaining my SPRAT evaluators and IRATA auditors appointment along the way. I am also involved in both the IRATA and SPRAT certification bodies. Having been invited to sit on the SPRAT Evaluations Committee and voted onto the SPRAT board of directors in 2019. I was also voted to hold the Chair of IRATA's North American Regional Advisory Committee.

After gaining my IRATA instructors ticket RAC brought me in as one of their Rope Access Trainers. Finally I was employed full time as a Level 3 running an electrical team in Fort McMurray oil sands before being promoted to site supervisor and looking after several maintenance teams within Suncor plant.
