I am now working for Forest Coachlines as a bus driver. Performing local northern beaches bus routes into the city of Sydney, Chatswood, St Ives, Mona Vale and Maquarie. Also charters for local schools and institutions.Quite a welcome change from 25 years in the corporate world, I am happily enjoying this new challenge!

Having spent 25 years in the corporate world I decided it was time for a major sea change. I have always been interested and active in 'doing up' houses. I now use those skills to assist people in the preparation of their property for sale or rent.

Member of Corporate Audit Services, part of the ING group in Australia which provides Superannuation, Insurance and Banking products to a very large customer base. ING is very heavily reliant upon its IT infrastructure and products to provide internal and external services. My role as IT Auditor primarily was to audit IT areas which were of high risk or concern to management.. The role included: Planning and performing IT and IT related projects in Australia and New Zealand(60%); reporting of high risk and issues raised during audits (20%); liaising with the business to ensure a relationship of trust was built up(10%); reviewing past issues raised in audits to ensure their effective closure(5%); providing the department latest information and updates on IT security and governance, through my role as a Director on the Sydney Chapter of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association), a global organisation, locally supporting 900+ professionals in Sydney & NSW – (5%).

Working for the Audit and Business Advisory team helping clients with their Internal Audit Methodology.Subject matter expert for audit & risk management software. The role included: being the product manager for Galileo and Magique - audit and risk management software products for internal audit teams (65%); performing IT audits based on ISO17799 on external clients, eg Volcom, InsureThat (15%); performing SOX control based audits on external clients eg Acco. assisting clients with advice in risk management and audit management methodologies (10%); managing and running training courses for software – comprehensive one/two day courses; demonstrating Internal Audit software including one-on-one, Internet, team presentations and at major events eg IIA SOPAC; structured project management for product installation and quality control measures; liaising with overseas product supplier for enhancements, customisations and future developments; supporting audit software IDEA (data analysis) distribution and helpdesk.

I worked in the corporate internal audit team planning and performing IT and operational audit reviews. I was initially based in the UK head office and more recently in the Singapore Asia Pacific regional office. The role included: managing and planning risk based audits, challenging all levels of staff, and both IT and business processes (60%); performing regional process based audits to ensure compliance of IT security policies; facilitating risk assessments at different levels in the company (10%); obtaining commitment from seniors to implement improvements in the management of risks and agreed actions to resolve issues; researching and presenting at conferences on IT Governance, Email Regulatory issues and Customer Relationship Management (CRM); practising risk based audit methodology, Combined Code for Corporate Governance (Turnbull), Sarbanes-Oxley and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); designing and facilitating workshops in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, S Korea, China and Taiwan culminating in detailed action plans in conjunction with the location management to improve processes (20%); managing the new risk assessment process in APAC which identified all auditable units and reviewed and evaluated their objectives, risks, risk management activities and assurances.

Joined MSAS Global Logistics, then moved to parent company Ocean Group PLC. MSAS merged with Exel and became Exel Logistics.Deutsche Post bought out Exel and DHL.Roles were, IT Audit & Security & Assurance

 performing global audits to ensure compliance of global security policies; planning and scoping IT security and control audits world-wide; performing audits on external parties; introducing a system for IT self audit checklists which aided the corporate governance/Turnbull process; managing the development of new software which computerised audit work programmes using a Lotus Notes based system; providing advice on all aspects of IT security within the group; introducing the use of ACL (CAAT software).

Head office IT department at Exel MSAS Global Logistics and had a varied role which included: responsibility for worldwide AS/400 policy & security; writing new global IT Security Standards based on ISO17799; developing IT Security policies which were agreed and signed by the CEO, CIO and senior IT executives; defining global, regional, location and individual roles and responsibilities for IT security; developing and implementing policy documents for joiners, leavers, AS/400 security management – general IT security administration etc; performing IT security & control audits worldwide; performing ISO9000 audits in business units eg sales office, warehouse, import/export offices.

My greatest memory is playing the Saxophone in a dance band in Louis Mountbatten's house whilst Charles & Diana were dancing to the music.
