In this position I worked alongside a small group of consultants to act as the link between the student and graduate employer community in Leeds and Yorkshire.Working with a range of large corporate, public, third sector and SME organisations, I managed relationships to ensure students at the university were connected to graduate jobs; placements; part-time opportunities and project work. This fulfilled the university's institutional objective to improve its Graduate Outcomes data for students while simultaneously assisting companies with their recruitment needs, as well ensuring graduate talent was retained locally in core economic sectors. My clients included Sky Betting and Gaming, FDM Group, Hermes, Teach First, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Hays, Leeds City Council, Perform Group and Direct Line Group.Key responsibilities included devising and implementing a range of careers fairs, employer sessions and mock assessment activities to facilitate connections between students and graduate employers. I also worked closely with academic colleagues in our School of Computing and Creative Technologies, and School of Sport, to support the employability agenda for these students.Creator of DigitalLEAP: an extra-curricular, six-week course for non-tech students at Leeds Beckett University designed to inspire, educate and inform them about graduate job opportunities in the Leeds digital economy.Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.Member of the Institute of Student Employers.

Jan 2016 - Sep 2019

Student Recruitment And Admissions Outreach Officer

York, Gb

My position at York sat within the two teams of Student Recruitment and Widening Participation, and was a newly created role which offered project support and relationship management for a number of schemes. The main project I was responsible for was a programme for Year 10-13 students in the Yorkshire area, which specifically encouraged aspiration and attainment in STEM-related subjects. The project was a collaboration between the Sutton Trust, Kusuma Trust and the Universities of York and Nottingham; and had a combined long-term budget of some £0.25m. I devised a challenging and multi-layered programme for students, which included academic interaction at the University (such as taster lectures, revision days etc.), online mentoring, the opportunity to participate in a weekly summer residential and some work exposure at a scientific company.By the time I had left the University Pathways to STEM was up and running, with eight schools in four geographical areas interested in being part of the programme. Some 100 students in Year 10 are expected to pursue the programme in academic year 2015/16.Another key responsibility I had in this position was co-managing the Next Step York programme: which encouraged post-16 students from across the UK to apply for university, and to York, through a range of activities and support programmes.I also reimagined the York teachers' and careers advisers' conference in May 2015, which had a variety of new sessions for guests, a new venue and a newly designed webpage. My role at York required excellent relationship management skills, which I furthered by liaising with stakeholders as varied as teachers, parents, students, academics, businesses and senior managers at the University.

Feb 2015 - Dec 2015

Student Recruitment Officer

Nottingham, Gb

As a Student Recruitment Officer I was involved in liaison activities with schools and colleges across the UK; delivering presentations, running practical workshops, attending higher education fairs, organising and managing onsite visits to The University of Nottingham and consulting with both careers advisers and teachers to share bespoke materials which met their requirements. I also helped to maintain a clear and up-to-date CRM system with colleagues to record my activities and analyse data from our feeder and partner schools.I jointly organised a major careers advisers’ and teachers’ conference at the University in April 2014, which received excellent feedback from delegates. I also engaged in work for other teams such as Marketing; in the summer of 2013 I completed a university-wide project which involved updating our entire course portfolio for the new UCAS website. I worked closely with academic departments and managed an ‘Academic Briefing’ scheme to share knowledge and best practice between subject schools and the Marketing, Communications and Recruitment team.I managed a review of the Schools Liaison team’s presentation portfolio and updated these to enhance their value as a recruitment and information tool. I also helped to maintain the team’s website to ensure our work was communicated effectively to stakeholders.

Jul 2012 - Jan 2015

Admissions Officer

Nottingham, Gb

In this role I worked in the undergraduate admissions team from June 2010 to May 2011, looking after a portfolio of sports science courses and making decisions on a large volume of applications to the University. I dealt with enquiries from students, teachers and parents, and kept a regular track of departmental progress by meeting with managers and colleagues. After May, I was selected to work on the postgraduate team, this time looking after a portfolio of courses from the College of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment. I assessed complex international applications in this role and helped to process CAS statements for overseas students needing a student visa to enter the UK.
