I have over 40 years experience in the construction industry starting off as a Civil Engineering student at CECOL CITB Bircham Newton sponsored by my first employer Robert Mcalpine progressing my career in Civils and building. I have also worked for Wimpey Construction Managment, Taylor Woodrow, Wimpey Engineering and construction, Kier and now Berkeley.I have worked on a number of contracts, civils, commercial residential, LUL and Network Rail.I am highly motivated and very good at problem solving. My previous construction experience has helped me in making the career change from poacher to gamekeeper. I was involved in management contracting which was not hands on enough for me so i decided to pursue a career as a Safety advisor which to me was more rewarding preventing people getting injured than writing letters to contractors on how they were not meeting their programme. I have over 15 years experience as a safety manager carrrying out site inspections, Internal audits for legal compliance, auditing contractors for our approved contarctors database, trend analysis, safety initiatives, safety commitee meeetings.developing safety management procedures.ensuring our sites are compliant with our SMS. I really enjoy my work with my current employer with such a varied work load, Groundworks remediation piling, R C Frame refurbishment, internal fit , customer care re visits. the full scope. I have been a chartered member of IOSH from November 2005 and a member of the WWT working well together comittee and attend two safety groups. The business i work for have achieved 5 ROSPA Gold awards and the Gold medal in 2013.
