Scientific Software EngineerPathology Institute, Free University Of Amsterdam (Vu) 1987 - 1988AmsterdamDevelopment of Pathology Image Processing Environment (PIPE) based on the C interpreter I developed as a Medical Informatics biology student. With it, I developed a mitosis detection cancer diagnostic system, steering a motor controlled video based autofocus microscope, allowing for fully automated analysis of biological specimen, such as cervical smears. The system would detect and store images of suspected cells and cells in mitosis, allowing a pathologist to view them and on demand relocating the cell in the specimen for closer inspection.
