As Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel I am responsible for all legal and regulatory affairs while also managing the Member Solutions (Collections), Operational Support, and Business Integration departments. I strive to meet our organizational objectives related to growth while ensuring compliance and adherence to applicable law.

General Counsel I am responsible for all day-to-day legal and regulatory affairs. Other responsibilities include, contract drafting and negotiation, assisting the mortgage department in clearing title issues and clearing various roadblocks for closings, resolving member complaints, and reporting upcoming and pressing legal and compliance risks to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Supervisory Committee. I represent the credit union in coordination with outside counsel in various types of lawsuits in which the credit union is a named party.

As a volunteer attorney with the Colorado Legal Services I currently assist the Consumer Protection Unit with their case load. As part of this unit I assist primarily on bankruptcy, foreclosure, and debt collection cases.

As a legal editor for LexisNexis I currently edit federal court and federal agency decisions. At Lexis I am responsible for reading, researching, and analyzing a multitude of case and statutory law to determine what authoritative value these various sources have on other cases and statutes. I am also responsible for researching appellate history for each case to ensure that any necessary appellate relationship is found and represented accordingly. The legal analysis which I provide immediately appears on the suite of Lexis products and is relied upon by attorneys and other professionals all over the world.

As a contract attorney for Special Counsel I was assigned to the Promontory Financial Group mortgage and foreclosure federal compliance review. At this position I was responsible for examining mortgage files to ensure compliance with published regulations from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

As a contract attorney for Legal People I was assigned to the Conway MacKenzie bankruptcy compliance review. At this position I was responsible for reviewing documents in regards to a newly bankrupt petroleum company in Denver, CO. My duties entailed examining various legal documents including leases, contracts, land records, title opinions, and various litigation materials in order to assess outstanding issues and liabilities throughout the bankruptcy process.

As an intern for the EPA I was responsible for assisting enforcement attorneys with completing a multitude of cases for litigation and settlement. While at this position l completed many legal research and writing assignments including jury instructions, complaints, consent agreements, motions, case referrals, memorandums of law, and briefs. I also assisted the enforcement attorneys in document discovery and settlement conference preparation. While most of the work I completed at the EPA focused heavily on federal regulation, much of the work required a mastery of administrative legal principles which where demonstrated throughout the whole of my work product. The projects I completed at the EPA were utilized either for federal litigation purposes or administrative complaint proceedings.

As a research assistant for professor Rock Pring I was responsible with updating various regulatory teaching aids which were used in international instruction. The teaching aids were used to instruct foreign students about the complexity and procedure of federal regulation in the United States. The teaching aids were updated through an extremely thorough and complex legal research process.

As a clerk for MacNeil Law Group I was responsible for tending to various assignments and duties around the law office, as necessary. I assisted the attorneys in the firm in filing various documents, including deeds of trust and wills in the correct court houses within the region. At this position I was also responsible for serving process and summons documents as needed. Further, I assisted the attorneys with any ongoing legal drafting, research, and file projects.

As a legal intern for Main Street Power I assisted the in-house counsel with everyday tasks. At this position I was in charge of monitoring and organizing the company’s legal document database which was accessed and relied upon by every employee in the company. I also assisted in drafting various legal documents including leases, solar power purchase agreements, easements, and contracts.

As a legal intern for AWEA I was assigned a research and writing project in coordination with efforts by the Western Resource Advocates located in Boulder, CO. The purpose of the project was to examine regulatory issues that were inherent in renewable energy transmission projects. At this position I completed and delivered a findings report which detailed policy, legal, and land use impacts and suggested changes in order to further facilitate renewable energy growth while promoting current energy production.

As a legal fellow for the Corps I was given great responsibility in assisting the office of counsel in various legal assignments. At this position I completed numerous legal documents in regards to federal regulations including memos, motions, and briefs. I also assisted the district in responding to ongoing FOIA requests. I also assisted the district in revising MOUs for use between the Corps and the Fish and Wildlife Service.
