About Richard Waldock
I am a freelance double bassist, conductor, guitarist, teacher, and composer. I am one of the most established freelance bassists in the North West, working with the Halle, Manchester Camerata, BBC Philharmonic, RLPO, Sinfonia Viva, Northern Chamber Orchestra, and many others. I am a member of the Skipton Camerata. I have lots of conducting experience, working with students and amateur musicians. I would like to gain more experience conducting professional players. I have plenty of experience as a guitarist, bassist, composer, teacher and producer in the field of rock music, and other genres.I want to push my career forward as far as possible on all the above fronts. I would also like to find effective ways to challenge the conservatism in the music industry. The classical music industry is suffering from a lack of connection with new art music audiences for many decades, partly due to perceived elitism, but also because new music is often challenging and academic, with scant reference to current cultural undercurrents. There is much to explore in genre crossovers and I would welcome opportunities to collaborate with eclectic musicians of any kind.

Formerly of Manchester Alt Rock monsters Creak, and Ska outfit Fat Jabba. Creak attracted considerable interest, with an arresting live show, releasing a single on vinyl, on their own label. Fat Jabba released an album on Jamdown records, and toured with The Selecter and Bad Manners. R J Waldock is currently revisiting some really cranky rock music.
