Appointed as the first 3* Chief of Defence Logistics and Support in Oct 2019, responsible to the Defence Board for developing and overseeing the implementation of a cross-cutting, pan-Defence strategy for Support, a £14Bn/annum enterprise employing over 60,000 military, civil service and industry personnel covering every facet of Engineering and Logistic Support.In leading the 650 strong Defence Support organisation, the responsibility of this role includes: directing, regulating and assuring Support policies, rules and standards including those related to NZ50; directing the Support Transformation portfolio designed to deliver a new, world-class Defence Support organisation and network, including c£1.7Bn of financial efficiencies; directing, cohering and assuring pan-Defence Support performance, including those capabilities and services which constitute the End to End Defence Supply Chain central to the deployment, sustainment and recovery of forces world-wide.The performance ambition to be realised through the Defence Support Strategy is a step change pan-Defence in platform and equipment availability, underpinned by assured, superior, environmentally sustainable and cost effective engineering and logistic services.

Responsible to the Army Board for developing the first Army Estate Strategy and directing and managing c£1Bn/annum Army Estate related investment, maintenance and sustainment. As Senior Responsible Owner, directing the planning and delivery of the £1.8Bn Army Basing Programme to relocate c20,000 troops from Germany to the UK, the c£5.4Bn investment in the principal Army programmes under Defence Estate Optimisation and the implementation of an emission reduction strategy for the Army estate focusing on large scale solar farm development and piloting of near net zero embodied carbon construction.

Responsible to Commander HQ ARRC (COMARRC) for the command and control of the 450 person, multi-national HQ drawn from 21 nations across NATO. In support of COMARRC, the role is responsible for the planning and execution of 2 major annual Corps level exercises (up to c80,000 troop deployments), the preparation of the HQ for high readiness and contingent deployments and the broader training and development needs of all personnel.

Responsible to 4* Chief of the General Staff and Army Board for the development of a fully resourced Army Strategy and Plan for the multi-billion/annum Army programme, providing military capability in the right place, at the right time, in the most cost effective manner. In support of execution, directing Army performance, risk and information management, leading the implementation of Army organisational change as Programme Director for the Army2020 Programme and the Army P3M Implementation Programme. As Chief Risk Officer, responsible for the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management.

Responsible to 3* Commander HQ ARRC (COMARRC) for providing all engineering, geospatial and civil-military cooperation advice. Responsible for the preparation of all operational and training directives and specialist input to operational contingency planning. In execution, responsible for command and direction all assigned engineer, geospatial and CIMIC forces .

Responsible for strategic workforce planning and the formulation and development of employment and health policies and plans for the 102,000 personnel in the British Army. Appointed as Programme Director for the Army Redundancy Programme, leading the planning and execution of the Programme over 2 years to reduce the trained strength of the Army by c20,000 personnel.
