A nuclear physicist by education, I’ve spent the last three and half decades at Mars, Incorporated, a family-owned business with more than a century of history making diverse products and offering services for people and pets. At Mars we believe the world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today, which is reflected in our ambitious Sustainable In a Generation vision: a future in which the planet is healthy, people and pets are thriving, and society is inclusive. Over the years I’ve worked in Petcare, Confectionery and Food, being based in six different countries. I’ve spent my career in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility in Supply Chain, R&D and Procurement, culminating in 13 years on the senior executive management team at Mars global headquarters where I directed Research & Development and end-to-end Supply Chain, including Logistics, Engineering and Procurement, at more than 150 manufacturing and research locations, for Mars’ entire global operations, working closely with the Board and Mars family members. Since 2019 I have served as Global Ambassador for Mars, based in McLean, VA. In this new position, I’ve been given the opportunity to guide Associates and stakeholders to both our rich foundation in technology and to emerging sciences that will shape Mars’ future. I work both within Mars and externally to promote a coordinated and mutual approach to the technical disciplines, and to inspire and nurture talent. I serve on the Technology Committee, providing governance and oversight of Quality & Safety, Sustainability, R&D Performance and Technology Adoption. Mars is at its heart a people business, and being able to spend time with our wonderful Associates around the world, connecting with them and sharing experiences, is what inspires me. After a fulfilling executive career, this is my opportunity to “give back”.I served on the Board of Medical Management International, Inc. (MMI) (Banfield) from 2007 to 2015, and I am currently on the Board of International Union for Conservation of Nature (US), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supporting IUCN and partner organizations working to conserve biodiversity – the variety of life on earth.In my spare time I enjoy following generally disappointing sports teams, and discovering the ups and downs of racehorse ownership.
