About Richard Watters

They say that every journey starts with a first step...I started at AMS in 1983 as a shop hand repairing trucks, parts sales, and job site deliveries. I grew into the position of a service technician in 1984 servicing ammonia refrigeration systems. In 1986 I was promoted to Service Manager and held that position until 1989 when I moved to Project Management for the Refrigeration Group. As Service Manager and Project Manager I designed and managed the installation and service of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems. In 1993 I was promoted to V.P. of the Refrigeration Group.In 2006 we had the opportunity to design and build other types of mechanical systems including Steam, Compressed Air, High Pressure Hot Water, Hydraulics, Thermal Fluid, CO2, N2, Stainless Steel Sanitary, and other utilities related to food plants. AMS also added plumbing in 2013. We found it to be a very good fit for the group. In many ways these systems are simpler than the ammonia systems that we were already designing.I moved to semi-retirement in February of 2024For 22 years I taught "Introduction to Ammonia Refrigeration" class for Pipefitters Local 597. Our current project is a 1962 tempest running 1,000 hp Pontiac motor.I love what I do.Specialties: Designing and building of Ammonia Refrigeration, Steam, Pneumatic, Process Piping, Hydraulics, High pressure wash systems related to the food industry.
