In his late twenties, while attending U.C.L.A., he worked for Warner Brothers Studio and became a member of the Musicians Union.In his late twenties, Widney wrote the music and lyrics for fifteen songs in a musical titled "Hello, Goodbye".After moving to San Diego in the 1980s, a staged reading of the musical was presented by Starlight Musical Theater.Since then, Widney has continued to write music and lyrics across a variety of genres, including easy listening, gospel, country, and musical theater.In addition to his work as a composer and performer, Widney served for three years as President of the San Diego Songwriters Guild.
