Monet Mobile Networks launched the first true commercial 3G wireless internet service in North America using Qualcomm's CDMA2000 technology in seven Midwest Markets. Monet later launched Monet Broadband under Qualcomm's new 1x EV-DO technology first in Sioux Falls, SD and then in Duluth, MN with upgrades later in its following markets. Monet was nationally recognized in 2002-2003 for performance excellence , winning both Wireless Week's Award for Carrier Excellence and Andy Seybold's Innovator award for commercial launch of 3G EV-DO service. Monet was successful in building a direct sales channel and selling through partnerships with national retailors such as Best Buy, Menards and Sam's club. In 1997 Cybernex merged with BasecNet out of Watertown, SD to become the states largest private ISP. Later in 1999 they acquired NPN out of Wahpeton, ND to expand into Eastern North Dakota and Western Minnesota. Cybernex was acquired by ClearData Communications out of Phoenix, AZ in the summer of 2000.
