Reporting directly to the company directors, I was responsible for a variety of projects and client work, including maintenance of existing client and internal websites, internal networking and server management at the company, web server management (Linux (CentOS), FreeBSD, Windows Server 2008), and proposing solutions for new projects. I dealt with clients on a day to day basis, talking through issues and solutions and creating proposals, dealing with time planning management and billing. I also developed for the internal system, provided advice and second line support for the other developers on-site, and troubleshooting any issues. Development was primarily in PHP server side with MySQL and Microsoft SQL, often involving Wordpress and Magento, with other platforms as needed on the back end, with jQuery, CSS, HTML etc. on the front end. I also created and set up some of the more unusual solutions and creative solutions they required, such as one for a large client creating middleware to connect Magento to an SAP-based system, and setting up monitoring systems for our client systems, as well as running penetration testing using Nessus/OpenVAS, and checking/upgrading the internal and external systems as appropriate.
